I may have missed something but I would love to know how long she has been married and if they have any children. As more bw see they have been lied to more will come off the sinking ship.

Awesome. She was Miss Arkansas in 1980. She didn’t need the Obama presidency to know she could be a winner. Even though Arkansas is in the Deep South with its ugly legacy of racism, this woman followed her dreams and went on to represent her state in the Miss America pageant, marry well and live internationally. She would not have been able to follow her dreams if she was worried about what random black folks thought. Thank you for sharing. Black girls need to see these examples of black women living well and making a good life for themselves beyond the all-black construct. As I’ve said before, many black women can make a BETTER life for themselves outside the all-black construct than in it. The world is big ladies, no need to limit yourselves out of fear.

p.s Do you SEE that smile on Bill Clinton’s face and that body language? He is angled directly toward Ms. Sullivan-Verseveldt!

It makes me ill that some Black folk are using Obama as some type of measuring stick for taking personal responsibility…Shortly, I hope to feature more BW who were deep in the throws of slavery that made a way from themselves…I welcome stories about BW living well and not limiting themselves~!

Nice. I don’t think I knew about this couple before. My fiance and I love seeing power BW/WM couples. Very empowering.
